Meet Zuri, our amazing survivor pup!

Zuri came to us with Persistent Right Aortic Arch (PRAA) and her aorta was wrapped around her esophagus making it nearly impossible for her to eat. She was frail and in need of emergency surgery which we were able to provide her. Since her surgery, she has been recovering in a foster home and doing great!

Due to her PRAA, Zuri eats upright and will need someone who understands her medical needs. She is small due to her medical issue and, while she may catch up, she will likely be small for her breed. Zuri also needs to be monitored closely on walks as she tries to eat rocks, mud, etc. and this is a medical concern. She is being muzzle trained to prevent this behavior and will need continued training so she no longer tries to do so.

Zuri is dog-friendly and can live with children 6+. We also think she may be able to live with a cat. Her foster describes her as very sweet, playful, and full of personality. Typical of her breed, she is very smart, and loves training. Zuri enjoys cuddling in her foster’s neck and playing with her doggy foster brother.
